4 Ways for Gun Owners to Celebrate American Freedom This July 4th
With the Fourth of July just days away, the thoughts of many Americans turn to freedoms that we appreciate due to the sacrifice of many of our men and women in the past.
On this day in 1776, our forefathers in the 13 colonies broke free of the tyranny of England and declared that the United States of America was now a free country — and able to self-rule. Also known as Independence Day, families and friends have been celebrating together in groups for generations. If you’re looking for ideas to share with your crew this 4th of July, here are 4 suggestions that might help!
1. Hit the Target (Range)
Fireworks may be the most common way that people like to make loud noises on the 4th, but what’s stopping you from celebrating in a way that also claims our heritage? Whether you hit the target range with some friends or set up to shoot clay targets in a field, getting together with other safe and responsible gun owners is a great way to celebrate the anniversary of our nation’s independence.
2. Wet a Few Hooks
The long, lazy days of summer are perfectly suited for one of our nation’s favorite pastimes: fishing! There’s nothing quite as relaxing as getting your friends and family together and go to a local lake or stream and go fishing. You will have plenty of time to catch up and chat over good times or plan for the future while you’re hauling in your dinner from the water. Even if you don’t catch anything large enough to keep, you can have plenty of tall tales to share with friends.
3. Find Some Trails
Getting back in touch with nature is a great way to celebrate the 4th of July. Our country is a beautiful expanse, and it is sometimes difficult to find time to get out and enjoy it. The extended holiday around the 4th of July gives you an opportunity to explore a different part of our country that you haven’t seen before, or simply get back to your roots and revisit some lovely locations you’ve seen in the past. Need some inspiration? Here’s a list of the top hiking trails in the country that you may have missed.
4. Get Muddy
Getting dirty is definitely something that many people enjoy. Whether’s it’s running in the mud doing an obstacle course or taking your trail truck or Jeep on the road, getting a bit muddy can be a ton of fun. Try gathering a group of buddies, bring a portable grill, and head for the biggest mud bog that you can find to slip and slide your way through. You can always cool off afterward by having a massive clean-up effort washing the vehicles.
Getting out and getting back to nature is one of the best ways to reconnect with friends and enjoy some well-deserved downtime. As always, making sure that you are appropriately practicing gun safety is the best way to ensure that you’re having a safe and enjoyable holiday!
