Democrats sure have come a long way from saying that “nobody wants to take your guns.”
You remember that, right? Of course you do. It’s been the infamous line dropped at every debate on gun control for the past 30 years. Now, going into the 2020 presidential election, that’s exactly what Democrats want to do. The only thing that seems to have changed is that they’re honest about it.
Obviously, there’s the case of Beto O’Rourke, who says “hell yes” to taking our AR-15s. But we were expecting that. Every election cycle comes with token individuals who are honest long-shots. However, there are candidates who actually stand a chance of becoming president that take that same position.
Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren is the obvious “not Joe Biden” choice for Democrats right now. Her timid demeanor is enough to fool people into believing that she’s not a total radical like fellow White House hopeful Senator Bernie Sanders. But, she drops the far-left base enough bread crumbs into pulling supporters away from his camp.
This is exactly what the Massachusetts Senator did during the last presidential debate. She did just enough to rally her supporters, while at the same time remained subversive enough to calm moderates questioning their support for a man who sometimes forgets when he was Vice President.
