California Senator Kamala Harris is running for president, and her campaign has direct implications for every gun owner in America.

Let’s get one thing out of the way early: there are no Democrats left, at least nationally, who support the Second Amendment as it is written. Democrats representing more moderate or conservative parts of the country, such as West Virginia or parts of the midwest, will occassionally pay lip service to gun ownership, but immediately vote with the anti-gun wing of their party to remain politically relevant. The fact that Senator Harris, a California Democrat, is anti-gun is not and should not be surprising to anyone.

But, the senator sets herself apart from the rest of the Democratic pack by having dedicated a significant portion of her career to fighting against what is effectively the first civil right. While even the far-left Senator Bernie Sanders concedes that it makes sense for rural areas to have different gun regulations than urban population centers, Harris is far less interested in compromise in this area. She may very well be the most anti-gun presidential candidate to declare so far.
