0

Firearms in movies have been popular since the dawn of cinema. Looking back to silent movies and all the way up to modern films, you can see that guns in movies not only represent real life scenarios at times and serious wars around the globe, but they have also been used for comic relief.

Remember the Red Ryder BB Gun in “The Christmas Story?” Ralphie was just desperate to get his hands on that old school bb gun for Christmas. He even tried to bribe his teacher! There are other famous gun scenes in movies that people watch over and over again.

Here are five of the most famous movie guns, that not only made for memorable scenes, but were held by some very well-known actors.

Pulp Fiction (1995): Star Model B in 9mm

There are of course a ton of firearms in any Quentin Tarantino directed film, but “Pulp Fiction” is an iconic film that launched Samuel L. Jackson’s career into high gear. In this film he plays Jules Winnfield, a hitman, who not only can deliver a killer monologue while swinging around his Star Model B in 9mm with ease, but also refers to his gun as “Mr. Nine-Millimeter.

Scarface (1983): Colt AR-15

A powerful scene where Al Pacino plays Tony Montana. He refers to this gun as his “little friend” when he pulls it out to annihilate a few assassins that are coming after him. Plus, this huge machine gun also has a grenade launcher custom attached to the piece. That makes it extra effective at taking command over the room. Earlier in the movie, Tony also carries a Beretta Model 81 as his regular pistol.

Die Hard (1988): Beretta 92 F

As Detective John McClane in “Die Hard” his weapon of choice is the Beretta 92 F. This is the gun he is seen carrying on the movie poster of the film. Of course, he manages to take control over a terrorist hostage situation on Christmas Eve, but the work for John McClane is never done considering they made four sequels over the years to this iconic movie.

Tombstone (1993): Colt .45 Revolver

In this western movie that stars Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp, he uses a Colt .45 caliber revolver during much of the film. In 2014 at an auction of Wyatt Earp memorabilia, this gun sold for around $225,000 in Arizona.

Pirates Of The Caribbean (2003): English Flintlock Pistol

Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, manages to murder the notorious Barbossa in this first film using his flintlock pistol. Since it only carries one bullet at a time, you would hope that he would be able to reload quickly with this historic gun that hails from the 17th century. It was said that during the movie filming sometimes a reproduction was used, but at other times it was a real .50 caliber English Flintlock that Depp was able to carry.
