Donald Trump Jr is the oldest son of the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. In the business world he runs the Trump Organization alongside his younger brother, Eric. But what does he love to in his free time? Hunting and shooting sports of course!
A picture Trump Jr. posted the other day on his Instagram shows him at a firing range holding one of his guns. It’s an AR-15 made by Rare Breed Firearms and Spikes Tactical, a company which boasts for making the highest quality AR-15s at the best prices on the planet — not that Trump Jr. needs to worry about the price of any gun he owns with a net worth of $300 million. He also is an avid big game hunter going on many different safari trips over the years.
A Hunter and Archer
Not only does Donald hunt, but he also participates in archery competitions. In an article for the New Yorker, he boasted that he won in two different categories at a recent competition. One was for a traditional bow, and the other was with a compound bow.
With hunting, he frequently appears in camouflage gear with various rifles. In 2012 he was photographed in Zimbabwe with some animals he killed with his brother on a big game hunt.
Donald Trump Jr’s Gun Collection
Other than being photographed with some of his gun collection, Donald estimates that he owns dozens of firearms that he keeps in a large locked safe. Some of those include a Benelli Super Black Eagle II in order to bag waterfowl during state-side hunting trips. For hunting overseas in Africa, his favorite gun is the Remington Model 700 rifle.
A Love of Hunting From His Grandfather
Donald Jr. didn’t get his love of hunting from his dad, but rather it comes from his maternal grandfather, who he used to visit in Czechoslovakia with his mom as a kid. He was the first one to teach him how to shoot an air rifle and the lessons made an impact. After he graduated from college and lived out west he would go shooting all the time with his friends.
His love of big game hunting came later on, but some of the animals he’s bagged are the Cape buffalo, Dall sheep of the Yukon, and even fishing in Alaska netted him some sockeye salmon.
As a father of five children, he plans to teach his kids a love of the outdoors and hunting as much as possible. He also has an archery range in his home to practice those skills with them. Raising city kids who love the country and hunting is one of his goals as a dad.
Obviously, it goes without saying that Donald is an avid supporter of the Second Amendment. Both he and his brother are lifetime members of the NRA. This is great for America, because Donald Trump Jr. has a ton of influence over his dad, the President, when it comes to gun control issues that might take away our rights.
