There is no doubt that there are firearm purists reading this right now screaming to themselves that air rifles aren’t actually firearms, and this whole post should be cancelled.
Look, we’re not going to lie to you — there is no comparison between an air rifle and the real thing. Yes, they can both use “real” ammunition, and can both be used to shoot things to varying degrees of success, but there’s no escaping the fact that gunpowder is a lot better for discharging a bullet than an air tank is.
What we’re saying is that yes, we get it: your traditional rifle is better than an air rifle. We agree, don’t replace it.
However, there’s also no denying the fact that air rifles are just extremely fun to play around with. Sure, the weapon will stop firing effectively once your air supply depletes to a certain level, but it’s fantastic that this technology actually exists. And as it turns out, there are a few models out there that are far more lethal than you might think.
The aesthetic model shown in the video below is the perfect example. It’s not exactly something you’ll want to bring to a battlefield, and if you’re dealing with a home invasion, you’re probably better off with a standard handgun — but this is one of the coolest things we’ve seen in a long time.
