Maine City Pushing Through Radical Gun Control Agenda

0

Augusta, Maine, is not necessarily what you would consider a hotbed of controversy. All that is changing as a series of gun rights rallies kicked off in mid-April — all in response to the state’s capitol, which is a new battleground for Second Amendment rights.

Across the country, people have been gathering in state capitols either for or against gun rights as they attempt to make their thoughts known to politicians. Republican politicians are often seen leading the charge like Taylor Haynes, Republican candidate for governor of the state of Wyoming. Many of these Second Amendment gun rights advocates were carrying firearms as they made their statements to the various lawmaking bodies. Much of this activity is in response to lawmakers who are attempting to pass stricter gun control laws across the country — something that has been all-too-often successful in the past 12 months.

Unfair Targeting of Gun Owners

The key concern in Maine is the highly restrictive bill that was introduced that would allow law enforcement professionals to confiscate guns from innocent Maine citizens — without even the right to face their accuser or a fair trial. This so-called Red Flag Law has already had a deadly effect in Maryland, where an elderly gentleman’s door was blocked by government agents. When the sixty-year-old didn’t comply with the now-lawful request to turn over his firearms at 5 am, he was shot dead in his home. This dreadful consequence is one that the mainstream media and liberal lawmakers don’t want the public to hear about, for good reason!

Constitutional Liberties Under Attack

The Constitution is clear: Americans have the right to keep and bear arms. Unfortunately, this doesn’t really matter to professional politicians who are more interested in appearing tough on gun control to pander to the liberal left.

Michael Bloomberg, the gun-hating billionaire from New York, is behind the introduction of many of these red flag laws that allow law enforcement officials to take away your Second Amendment rights without due process of law. Americans not only don’t have to be proven guilty of anything to have their gun rights infringed: they don’t even have to commit a crime! Instead, the standards have been lowered to the point where someone has to claim that you pose a “danger” either to yourself or others. That’s plenty of evidence for someone to request that the police remove your firearms — using force, if necessary.

There is no proof that these red flag laws would have made a difference in any of the recent mass shootings. Maine is only the latest of many states to attempt to put this type of law in place. While the majority of gun owners are law-abiding citizens, it is still galling that we are being required to prove our innocence in front of a judge — after our guns have been confiscated.

This blatant disregard for the Constitution has gun owners in Maine and across the country up in arms and ready to fight the liberal lawmakers and media moguls that are pushing this ridiculous legislation.
