This Democrat Wants to Punish Gun Owners for Other People’s Crimes

0

Liberal politicians have tried everything they can to undermine your Second Amendment rights. But, since there is little chance of actually changing the Constitution of the United States, they are constantly coming up with other means of disarming law-abiding citizens. T

heir newest tactic is to hold gun owners responsible for someone else’s crime. That’s right — liberals want to make you responsible if someone else commits a crime with your gun. Forget about holding the person who committed the crime responsible. If you own a gun, then you are responsible — at least that is how liberals would like to see things go.

Virginia State Senator Dave Marsden, a Democrat from Fairfax County, says gun owners need to be held responsible. This proposal sounds so ridiculous that you might think that Marsden is talking about gun owners selling their guns to people who they know are going to commit crimes with them. However, that is not what the lawmaker is talking about. He wants to punish innocent gun owners whose guns just happen to end up in the wrong hands. So, if someone steals your gun, and goes on a shooting rampage, then you would also be responsible for the deaths of any innocent victims, according to Marsden’s proposal.

In many states, private sales of guns are perfectly legal. Gun owners have to follow state and local, state and federal laws when privately selling a firearm. But, as long as they do follow the law, they are allowed to buy and sell firearms. So, if you live in one of the states that still allows private sales, and you want to sell your collector’s Colt Anaconda, you can do so. However, under Marsden’s proposal, if the person who purchases the Colt Anaconda later commits suicide, then you would be liable for his death.

The reason why Marsden wants to punish gun owners for others’ action is because he thinks that gun owners are “careless.” He quotes statistics that show that 60 percent of guns that are being used in crimes or suicides are not originally owned by the person that committed the crime. However, this is not even true. According to the NRA, most firearms that are used in crimes are obtained by illegal means. They are either stolen or obtained through illegal “off-paper” transactions.

Marsden and other liberal lawmakers want to make gun ownership as difficult as possible. They are coming up with all kinds of ways to dissuade law-abiding people of the U.S. from owning guns, which is completely wrong. It just adds more discrimination and stigmatization against gun owners. Fortunately, most legal experts do not think that such a law would likely pass, which tells you how ridiculous it is in the first place.

Making innocent people responsible for other people’s crimes would not likely reduce crime. It would just punish gun owners — most of whom just want to protect their constitutional right to protect themselves and their family from crime.
