Residents Ward Off 7 Home Invasion Suspects With An AR-15

0

Two Florida men used their AR-15 semi-automatic rifle to ward off seven home invasion suspects. The Glen St. Mary residents opened fire on the intruders after they kicked in the door of the home at around 4 AM.

The residents were asleep in a mobile home when they heard someone yell “Sheriff’s Office” before kicking in the front door. Seven masked suspects entered the home and fired. The residents of the home emerged from two bedrooms with weapons ready to defend themselves. One had an AR-15 and the other a 9mm handgun. The AR-15 was used to shoot off about 30 rounds. The residents were then able to run to another part of the home and call 911.

When authorities arrived, they found a grisly scene. There was a heavy amount of dried blood everywhere. They also found a mask with a bullet hole and one of the suspect’s handguns nearby.

Two of the suspects received medical attention for wounds sustained in the shooting. One unnamed juvenile was hospitalized. Another suspect, Corey Lauramore, was killed. He died of gunshot wounds to the head.

Five people; Joseph Albino (24), William Lauramore (24), Zachary Bell (20), Cayden Lauramore (15) and Christian Watkins (19) all face home invasion charges.

The residents of the home told authorities that they fired on the suspects out of self-defense. None of them were hurt in the shooting.

The home invasion was the result of an ongoing feud between the residents of the home and the suspects, which was reportedly stoked by social media threats. The five people charged in the case were among seven that had gone to the mobile home armed and ready to fight the people living there.

Gun control advocates constantly argue that the AR-15 is not appropriate for self-defense. They have demonized the rifle arguing that they only purpose of the semi-automatic is to fight wars. Another common argument is that no one outside of the military or police could possibly need more than 10 rounds. This real-world case demonstrates that this line of thinking is not correct. There are times when a high-capacity magazine is ideal for self-defense — particularly when facing multiple armed attackers. Like any other weapon, the AR-15 can be used for good or evil. In the case of multiple attackers, there is no better weapon.

This is not the first time that the AR-15 has been used in self-defense. Just last year, three home invasion suspects were shot and killed when they broke into a home. Wearing masks and dressed in all black, the suspects were gunned down by the homeowner’s son after forcing their way into the Broken Arrow, OK home.
