The NRA is Still Breaking Fund-Raising Records

0

The National Rifle Association broke a 20-year fundraising record this month as its Political Victory Fund raised nearly $2.5 million towards helping politicians fighting against gun control win political victories across the nation. What is more, the money towards this campaign came not from a few large donors who are seeking to influence the masses but from a multitude of small donors who gave $200 or less in an effort to keep their Second Amendment rights safe.

While some major networks simply ignored the news, MSNBC’s liberal journalists expressed alarm at the fact that the current crusade against guns isn’t really as successful as some would make it out to be.

MSNBC anchors Stephanie Ruhle and Ali Velshi appealed to their audience to take note of the fact that anyone who is willing to send a check to someone is certainly willing to get up and vote on election day. Given the fact that the mid-term elections are only about six months away, there is reason for liberals to be alarmed. The media’s tirade against guns and gun owners is driving people to take sides and many people are choosing to side with the NRA and pro-second amendment activists.

At the same time, the NRA has more than a successful fundraising campaign to be thankful for. While the record-breaking intake of funds will certainly help the organization promote candidates who are opposed to any form of gun control, the NRA has also been moderately successful in getting gun-friendly legislation passed in a number of states. The organization has endorsed more than two dozen bills in various state legislatures, including bills that would implement “stand your ground” laws, allow off-duty police officers to work as school security guards and prevent private organizations from disallowing or limiting firearms on their premises. A number of bills have already passed and become law.

It should not surprise pundits that the push against firearms is backfiring on those who want to limit the rights of law-abiding citizens to carry a gun. In fact, when former president Obama sought to push gun control throughout the country, the sale of guns shot through the roof, leading gun sellers to label the former president as their best salesman. In fact, gun sales dipped after President Trump took office as the general public became more relaxed knowing that they would be able to buy the firearm of their choice for the foreseeable future.

Opposition almost always strengthens the party being opposed, especially if that party is being backed by hundreds of millions of law-abiding citizens. While gun control activists are making speeches, organizing boycotts, intimidating firearm sellers and garnering thousands of shares, likes and followers on social media channels, the NRA continues to not only exist but even thrive as Americans of all ages and walks of life take action against those who would seek to limit their constitutional right to bear arms.
