More Gun Rights Organizations You Should Know About

0

The NRA isn’t the only name in the gun rights game. Granted, they are the most famous. They also have the most members. Yes, they are a huge deal. Yet, there are other pro-Second Amendment organizations that are doing amazing work in support of this great American foundation in the right to bear arms.

Let’s explore some of these lesser-known organizations that are doing exceptional work. You may want to look into supporting one of these groups as well.

Jews For the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO)

This organization, the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, has been around since 1989 out of Washington state. Their website is very comprehensive about their mission, which encompasses three primary goals. The first of which is to “destroy so-called gun control.” They also seek to educate people that support gun control on the errors of their ways. Finally, they view their organization as a guardian of the Second Amendment. Keep in mind that you don’t have to be Jewish to join this organization. They support including any religion, and currently have around 7,000 members.

Constitutional Rights PAC

This isn’t specifically a gun rights organization, because they defend all kinds of causes — but one of those is gun rights. They believe the best way to freedom is to carry through with what the Constitution believes is right to the letter. So, obviously they are sworn to uphold the Second Amendment. One of the biggest causes they are fighting lately is to end “gun-free” zones. You can even sign a petition at the bottom of their main webpage in support of this important initiative at the Constitutional Rights PAC website.

Students for Concealed Carry

This is one of the only groups geared towards college aged students. They are growing in numbers though, at the Students for Concealed Carry organization. Founded in 2007 and with 40,000 members to their credit, they feel it is their mission after the Virginia Tech shooting to support students who have a concealed carry license to exercise this right on campus. Most college campuses don’t allow concealed carry. The goal of this group is to change that.

Firearms Policy Coalition

Founded in 2013, the Firearms Policy Coalition is a big group of people with a large Facebook and Twitter following. It’s unclear how many members they have. But their mission, out of California, is to work on gun rights there. So if you live anywhere in the state of California, you may want to look at this organization up and get involved, since the gun rights are so restrictive there.

Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership

Alright, this is a bit of a niche group, since you have to be a doctor to join, but they are still doing great work. The mission at Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership is clear though: they support the grand tradition of firearm ownership. They mainly educate public health officials and citizens about safe and responsible firearm ownership. You can bet a lot of these doctors in major cities have seen the damage caused by gun violence, so encouraging safe ownership is key to their mission.
