Democrat Virginia is Already Going All-in on Gun Control

0

Less than 24 hours after Democrats assumed control of the state legislature, Democratic Governor Ralph Northam announced his intention to see a wide range of anti-gun laws clear both houses so he can sign them.

As seen in the current impeachment hearings in Washington, elections both nationally and on the state level have consequences. What is happening in Virginia should serve as a warning shot for citizens who support the 2nd Amendment. As Andrews of the Conservative Free Press warns:

“The very instant these radical left-wing commies get control of Washington they will begin passing laws that will make your head spin.”

According to the Washington Post, Northam mentioned a number of initiatives at his Cabinet meeting last Wednesday including a ban on the sale of semi-automatic firearms, high-capacity magazines, universal background checks, and a red flag law that would allow courts the power to temporarily remove a gun from a person deemed to be a risk to himself or others

Northam added at the end of his meeting: “We will at least start with those.”

The Free Beacon reports that the hot-button topic of gun confiscations took center stage after a photograph of a man in blackface and another in KKK robes were found on the Governor’s page in his medical school yearbook.

According to the Free Beacon:

“Democrats have a strong incentive, in the form of millions in dark money, to implement new gun control laws, in each of the last three election cycles, Everytown for Gun Safety—backed by billionaire Michael Bloomberg—and other gun control groups have spent large sums of money backing Democrats. Everytown spent $2.5 million to help push Democrats into the majority in Virginia, while the National Rifle Association spent just $300,000 supporting Republicans, according to CNBC.”

Everytown for Gun Safety is the largest outside contributor to Virginia’s 2019 Elections. The Virginia chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a part of Everytown, took credit for victory as Gun Sense Candidates won across the Commonwealth.

Democrats now control both the House of Delegates and the state Senate as the Virginia General Assembly flipped to a gun sense majority.

Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and the Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund pumped a combined $2.5 million in Virginia’s 2019 elections across 22 of the state’s most competitive House and Senate districts.

After the Virginia Beach shooting, Republicans sided with the pro-gun lobby and that decision cost them their majority. Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America tied the losses to Republican’s support of the NRA, also located in Virginia.

Watts said: “These results prove that the NRA’s agenda is now so toxic that its support is a liability even in its own backyard. We’ll take this momentum into 2020 and turn the gun lobby’s weakness into wins in state and federal races.”

The Conservative Free Press warns conservatives that “Democrats have a strong incentive, in the form of millions in dark money, to implement new gun control laws.”

Perhaps voters who care about the Second Amendment will learn a lesson from Virginia and show up for the 2020 election in force.
